handicap adaptations
gasstations-carwash
Together with my wife Jeannet ('49) and the children Jaco ('81) and Joost ('89) I ('52) live in a wheelchair adapted home in Rotterdam-Schiebroek, Netherlands.
Both children suffer a rare, metabolic disease, what brings us sorrow and care, but also pleasure and sense of life. This is also the reason of my interest in handicaps and handicap supplies.. I made a living out of it. I work as a free settled architect and consultant in disability questions.

Last year we made our holiday trip to Northern Italy. Of course I wrote again a lot of rubbish about that.
Beside these there are still the older stories I wrote about our 1998 England caravan trip. So if you can read Dutch, go there and have a look.
You can read lots of skating stuff in english. I write stories about many of the tours I skated. In strong winters on natural outdoor ice. As there are not many of them, I started to do inline skating in summer on those smooth, flat bikepaths we have in Holland.

We are real (Kip-)caravan-fans, and discover Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, England and France in our adapted "Grey-Line" caravan in summer.

A summary of my most important hobbies:

  • reading and making comics or political cartoons
  • model railways
  • computer and internet
  • politics & society
  • travelling & transport-crafts
  • space & science-fiction
  • natural science, eg. archeology and astronomy

For background music (foreground is better), I like pop music from the sixties and seventies, like:

  • Moody Blues (did much more than only "Nights in white satin").
  • Kraftwerk (their "Autobahn" was later demolished to "house").
  • Sting ("I'm an alien, I 'm a legal alien..")
  • Pretenders and Cranberries (have so little of it..)
  • Mary Hopkin ("for in our hearts the dreams are still the same..")
  • A-ha ("there's no end to the lengths I go...")
  • Super Sister (dutch) ("life is no good friend..")
  • Alquin (dutch) ("no one ever reach that heart of stone,..")
  • Focus (dutch) ("la nostalgie s'éveille...")

Because my sons both suffer a metabolic muscle disease, and have motoric handicaps, we are member of the following patient's organizations, and get much support from them:

We are pleased to get in contact with people who have experiences, or know more about children suffering at Mitochondrial Myopathy and Encephalopathy, with malfunctions in the enzyme complexes I and IV.
Together with a pyruvate deficiency.
.
I am especially interested in web-links on this. Please send me an e-mail via the link at the top left. ("Contact")
